About me

Backend developer // four years in production.

> whoami

I’m a backend developer, four years into doing it for a living. Most of my work is the part nobody sees: the services, the queues, the data model that keeps the front end honest. If it has to stay up at 3 a.m., that half of the stack is mine.

It started at school, long before it was a job — games, renderers in C++, an audio streaming server that only ever worked on my own LAN, an SMTP client in Java written mostly to find out what really happens when you send mail. Most of those never shipped. All of them taught me more than the ones that did.

These days I still take freelance work, and I spend a fair amount of time in Discord communities answering the kind of question I once had to brute-force alone. Explaining a system out loud is the fastest way I know to find out whether I actually understand it.
